Computer Vision Syndrome Drexel Hill, PA

Computer Vision Syndrome

Computer Vision is a relatively new term within the optometry field and refers to eye problems associated with the prolonged use of computers and electronics that utilize a digital screen. Although it can be temporary, there are times when computer vision can strain the eyes to a degree that permanently affects your vision as well. An existing eye condition can worsen as the eyes try to focus and adjust to a computer screen, and precautions should be taken if you spend long hours in front of a computer screen.

If you have been experiencing blurry vision, dry eyes, eye strain, headaches, neck or back pain, try adjusting the lighting, posture, and the distance in front of your computer screen. If computer vision symptoms persist, call us to request an appointment, we will perform a full evaluation.

Dry Eye Treatment Drexel Hill, PA

Dry Eye Treatment

Eye Innovations is proud to offer dry eye treatment for our patients. Ocular Surface Disease, also known as dry eye, can occur from certain medications, naturally by aging, or as a symptom arising from systemic diseases such as Sjogren’s syndrome, Rheumatoid arthritis, or Lupus. If you have a minor case of dry eye, you may be experiencing irritation, excessive tearing, fluctuating vision, and/or a burning sensation in your eyes. Excessive dry eyes, or dry eye symptoms that go untreated, have the potential to damage eye tissue, scar your corneas, and impair your vision.

LASIK Co-Management Drexel Hill, PA

LASIK Co-Management

LASIK stands for laser in-situ keratomileusis and is a popular surgery to correct vision problems. LASIK can help people who are nearsighted or farsighted, as well those who have astigmatism.

LASIK works by reshaping the cornea with a laser, which allows light to be correctly focused onto the retina. A laser is used to create a small flap in the cornea, which is peeled back so another laser can reshape the cornea. The flap is then placed back and the surgery is complete.

Cornea Refractive Therapy Drexel Hill, PA

Cornea Refractive Therapy

Orthokeratology, also called corneal reshaping, is done to correct nearsightedness and mild astigmatism. This is done by reshaping the cornea. After the procedure, patients must wear special contact lenses overnight.

If the procedure works, patients will be able to see clearly without wearing contacts or eyeglasses. It is really important for patients to wear the special lenses at night to keep their vision as clear as possible. It is a temporary fix.

Medically Necessary Contacts Drexel Hill, PA

Medically Necessary Contacts

There are many different eye conditions that require specific kinds of contact lenses, but finding the right kind isn’t always easy. There are lenses designed for certain eye conditions, such as astigmatism, dry eyes, keratoconus, etc. but comfort is a very important aspect of correcting your vision, so be sure to find lenses that fit your eye properly.

Soft Contact Lenses are typically the best option for most people. They allow the eye to breathe and receive moisture, and can be helpful for people suffering from dry eye as well. Most of these lenses are disposable, so you can revive your eyes with a fresh pair of lenses whenever necessary.

Rigid Gas-Permeable Lenses are hard contact lenses that provide correction for very poor vision and conditions causing blurry vision, such as astigmatism. The lenses provide very clear vision and will not slide on the eye as much as soft lenses, but they aren’t as comfortable and can be a difficult adjustment. However, they are durable and can improve very poor eyesight to nearly 20/20 vision.

Toric Lenses are designed specifically for astigmatism. They are made for both hard and soft contact lenses, which has been helpful for many people that have astigmatism but have difficulty wearing hard lenses. Toric Lenses are the preferred contact lenses for people with astigmatism.

Myopia Control Drexel Hill, PA

Myopia Control

Myopia is an eye condition where objects that are close to you are clear, however, objects far away are blurry. This is caused by the eye being slightly long.

Myopia can happen to children and adults. Research has shown that there are ways to prevent the progression of myopia, and the younger the person is, the better our treatment process will work.

There are three treatment options for controlling myopia; We can use atropine, soft multifocal contact lenses, and orthokeratology.

Atropine has the ability to slow myopia, without significant mydriasis and cycloplegia. It is available at a low dosage through a compounding pharmacy.

Soft multifocal contact lenses will slow the progression of nearsightedness and provide an effective treatment option. Children that wear multifocal lenses notice twenty five percent less myopia progression and thirty one percent less elongation than those wearing single-vision lenses over a period of two years.

Orthokeratology treatment is used to temporarily reshape the contour of the cornea and reduce myopia. During the treatment, you will need to wear gas permeable contact lenses at night only, which will result in better vision during the day without the corrective lenses.

We are dedicated to the health of your eyes. We work with patients of all ages and are happy to answer any questions. Our practice has all of the latest technology to ensure that you receive the best treatment possible.
